Dec. 15--The Blackhawks and Flames are scoreless after one uneventful first period.
Calgary's David Jones hit the post, and Chicago's Antti Raanta stuffed Johnny Gaudreau, who got in close with a backhand. Calgary outshot the Hawks 9-7.
Chicago's best chance came when Andrew Shaw couldn't lift the puck with a backhand over Jonas Hiller. Patrick Kane missed high with a slap shot.
The Flames are 17-12-2 but losers of four straight.
Defenseman Tim Erixon had a quiet but responsible period in his Hawks debut.
