Feb. 05--Michael Tiknis, the president of the Harris Theater for Music and Dance for the last 12 years, said Thursday night that he has decided to leave his post at the end of this year.
"It felt time for me to go," Tiknis said in an interview Thursday night, "and I wanted to do it in such a way as to be able to help the board with the succession plan."
Tiknis, 63, also said he hoped to do "one more major project" in his career.
Alexandra Nichols, the chair of the board of the Harris, the 1,525-seat indoor arts venue in Millennium Park, said in a prepared statement that the theater planned to mount a search for a successor.
She also paid tribute to Tiknis' leadership of the Harris, noting his "unwavering commitment to its mission."
