March 17--Four musicals from four different eras will take the stage of Paramount Theatre in Aurora next season. Paramount announced its 2015-16 slate on Tuesday.
The historic theater's fall show is "Oklahoma!" (Sept. 16-Oct. 18) by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Jim Corti will direct the production.
For the holidays, Nick Bowling will stage "A Christmas Story -- The Musical" (Nov. 25, 2015-Jan. 3, 2016). The comedy based on the homonymous film features music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Joseph Robinette.
Next is "Hairspray" (Jan. 20-Feb. 21, 2016), Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's 60s-set musical about a teen girl who dreams of stardom, acceptance and Link Larkin. Amber Mak will direct the production.
The season ends on "West Side Story" (Mar. 16-Apr. 24, 2016), also directed by Corti. The tragic musical features a score by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents.
Paramount Theatre is located at 23 E. Galena Blvd. in Aurora.
