Jan. 18--Several gunshots were fired Saturday night outside the Delaware home of Vice President Joe Biden, authorities said. Biden and his wife, Jill, were not home at the time and no one was injured.
The shots were fired from a car as it drove at high speed on a road near the vice president's home in Greenville, Del., a suburb of Wilmington, at around 8:30 p.m. local time, according to the Secret Service.
Secret Service agents heard the gunshots and saw the car drive away, the agency said in a statement about the incident. The Bidens have been briefed on the shooting.
Biden is scheduled to deliver a speech at a Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast in Wilmington on Monday.
The Secret Service and the New Castle County police said they were continuing to investigate the incident.
Within an hour of the shooting Saturday, police arrested a man who attempted to pass them as they secured an outer perimeter established around the Biden home. Authorities said he would be questioned to determine whether he was involved.
