BRIEF: Gucci heiress lists her Moroccan retreat in the desert

Feb. 03--British fashion heiress Patricia Gucci has listed her desert estate in Riverside County's Mountain Center at $7.5 million.

Known as Casa Azzurra, the gated and secluded compound encompasses 23 acres adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park.

The Moroccan-style two-story main house features floor-to-ceiling windows, high ceilings, skylights, a home theater, an art studio, a bar, a den/office, 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The 11,000-square-foot mansion and two guesthouses take in views of the San Jacinto mountains, the desert landscape and city lights.

Outdoor features include a swimming pool and spa, a tennis court and hiking trails. There's even a large kennel.

Gucci is the granddaughter of Guccio Gucci, who founded the Italian fashion company that was later expanded by her father, Aldo Gucci. She and her family lived in the home full-time for several years. Gucci is selling because she now makes her home in Europe.

She bought the site in 1993 for $950,000, public records show.

Aaron Kirman and Mimi Starrett of the John Aaroe Group are the listing agents.
