BRIEF: Griffin will stage 'The Birds'

March 25--Griffin Theatre Company's next show will be playwright Conor McPherson's adaptation of "The Birds," a spokesman for the theater said on Wednesday.

That is British writer Daphne du Maurier's short story "The Birds," which inspired Alfred Hitchcock's famous 1963 thriller film. In the stage adaptation, two strangers hide in a run-down house from violent flocks of avian foes. This is the first time McPherson's play will be seen in Chicago. It will be directed by Kevin Kingston.

Griffin will return to Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont Ave.) for "The Birds," which begins performances June 6 and continues through July 19. Tickets are now on sale at theaterwit.org.
