BRIEF: Grayslake motel evacuated, man arrested after tip about meth lab

March 29--A motel in Grayslake was evacuated Monday night and a man was arrested after authorities were called to investigate a tip that a meth lab was in operation, according to Illinois State Police.

According to a news release from the state police, the man told officers from the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group that he had methamphetamine and meth precursors in his room at the Comfort Suites motel, in the 1700 block of East Belvidere Road.

When authorities learned of the possibility that the man had anhydrous ammonia, they ordered that the motel be evacuated, according to the news release.

A cleanup of the meth-related chemicals at the scene began and the man was taken into custody. The police investigation was continuting.

An employee at the motel said Tuesday morning that motel guests eventually were allowed to return to their rooms.
