Oct. 12--C.J. Prosise was precisely what Notre Dame's run game needed a week after struggling against Clemson. The senior ran for 129 yards and three scores and DeShone Kizer threw for 281 and one more Saturday as the Irish cruised to 5-1 with a 41-24 victory against Navy.
Offense
A. Prosise and Kizer balanced the attack and helped the Irish gain 459 yards to Navy's 340. The unit ran 71 plays and turned the ball over just once. Kizer completed passes to eight receivers.
Defense
B. Another slow start was corrected at halftime, not long after the Irish gave up two quick touchdowns to end the first half, and another to begin it. The Irish still don't get to the quarterback often (one sack), but Jaylon Smith recovered a fumble and Elijah Shumate had an interception.
Special teams
A. Justin Yoon kicked two important field goals, including a 52-yarder, and Tyler Newsome averaged 42 yards on two punts. C.J. Sanders averaged better than 20 yards per kick return.
Coaching
B+. Brian VanGorder's defense looked puzzled at the start but eventually adjusted to the second triple-option challenge of the season by holding the Midshipmen to 95 yards in the second half after allowing 245 in the first.
