Oct. 12--Northwestern truly met its match in Michigan, falling 38-0 Saturday in front of 110,452 fans at the Big House. The Wildcats (5-1, 1-1 Big Ten) now prepares to host unbeaten Iowa.
Offense
D. The Wildcats were limited to 168 total yards, 38 on the ground. Clayton Thorson completed 13 of 27 passes for 106 yards. He was intercepted once and sacked twice.
Defense
C. Two of the Wolverines' touchdowns came on a kickoff return and a pick-six. Godwin Igwebuike had a game-high eight tackles, including two for a loss. Deonte Gibson had 21/2 sacks.
Special teams
D. The opening kickoff was returned 96 yards by Michigan's Jehu Chesson. Jack Mitchell missed a 42-yard field-goal attempt. Hunter Niswander averaged 35 yards on eight punts.
Coaching
C-. Pat Fitzgerald took personal accountability for not having his players prepared to face the challenge in a hostile environment.
