Nov. 17--Illinois and Iowa played a lifeless first half, then the Hawkeyes came alive.
Meanwhile, the Illini withered in a 30-14 disaster Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
Offense: D-
Illinois' offense was as flat as the land around Champaign. Wes Lunt was unremarkable in his return with 102 passing yards, and the run game got nothing going with only 88 yards. The Illini had six three-and-outs. Give receiver Mikey Dudek props for two touchdown catches.
Defense: D+
Stopping all three of Iowa's fourth-down attempts should have sparked the team. A fumble recovery could have changed the course of the game. But the defense wore down after being on the field far too often and too long.
Special teams: C
Punter Justin DuVernois averaged 39.9 yards on eight punts despite windy conditions. No field goals were attempted.
Coaching: F
Two weeks to prepare and this is it? The Illini were hampered without two starting offensive linemen, but at a crucial point in the season against a beatable opponent, Tim Beckman's team should have looked like a team with something to play for instead of a team whiling away the end of the season.
