BRIEF: Gordon Beckham reportedly agrees to 1-year deal with Braves

Dec. 02--Former White Sox infielder Gordon Beckham reportedly has agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million contract with the Braves, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The deal is pending a physical, according to MLB.com.

Beckham, the Sox's eighth overall draft pick in 2008, has played most of his seven major-league seasons with the Sox, compiling a career .242 batting average.

After a brief stint with the Angels at the end of 2014, Beckham, 29, returned to the Sox in 2015 to be a utility infielder. He played in 100 games for the Sox in 2015, hitting .209 with eight doubles, six home runs and 20 RBIs.

He started 39 games at third base midway through the year before the Sox went to rookie Tyler Saladino at the position, and his playing time fell off in the second half.

Beckham is an Atlanta native and played college baseball at Georgia.
