BRIEF: Gonnella Baking pulls certain breads due to undeclared milk

Jan. 22--Gonnella Baking said Thursday it is recalling 20 oz. packages of its Jewel brand Gourmet Sandwich Rolls and 20 oz. packages of Gonnella brand Sub Buns due to undeclared milk in the products.

The Schaumburg-based bread producer said that whey, which is derived from milk, is not listed on the ingredient list on the labels, and notes people who may have a milk allergy or sensitivity are at risk if the product is consumed.

The affected products were manufactured between Dec. 9 and Jan. 17. They have an expiration date through Jan. 25. The affected products also have specific product codes: the Sandwich Rolls are labeled 11563, and the Sub Buns are labeled 15840.

Gonnella said no illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers with questions can contact the company at (800) 262-3422.
