April 17--A Gold Coast apparel store was burglarized for the second time in less than a year early Friday.
About 5:05 a.m., someone broke into Moncler, an upscale boutique at 33 E. Oak St., police said. The thief smashed display cases before making off with merchandise, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Janel Sedevic.
Police taped off the front of the store. Shattered glass could be seen across the floor through the boutique's front door.
The store was also a target of "crash-and-grab" burglars in September of last year. In that burglary, thieves rammed a car through the store's front doors and made off with several rack of coats reportedly worth more than $101,000.
Police could not immediately say how much merchandise was stolen in Friday's robbery. No one was in custody.
