BRIEF: Glendale police investigating two separate robberies reported in succession

Feb. 09--Police on Monday were investigating two unrelated incidents--a robbery and an attempted robbery--reported within minutes of one another in Glendale, officials said.

In the first incident, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on the 200 block of East Lomita Avenue, the victim arranged to meet the suspect via Craigslist to sell an iPhone 6, according to Glendale Police Sgt. Ben Bateman.

While the pair was negotiating the sale, the suspect--described as a black man in his early 20s, roughly 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a large Afro hairstyle--reportedly grabbed the phone by force and fled in a green Honda.

Minutes later, a would-be robber reportedly ran up behind a man walking near El Caminito and Lauderdale Avenue and attempted to hit him with a bag full of BBs.

The victim resisted and the suspect fled, along with his alleged accomplice, in a black Acura RSX.

One of the men was described as Hispanic and in his early 20s, wearing a red flannel shirt with a black bandana covering his face. The second man, the driver, was about the same age.
