BRIEF: Glendale man arrested for allegedly punching elderly pedestrian

Feb. 17--A 31-year-old Glendale man was arrested Saturday after punching, unprovoked, an elderly pedestrian in Glendale, police said.

At around 9 a.m., an 81-year-old Glendale man was walking in the 1300 block of Colorado Street when the suspect, identified as Angel Vega, reportedly approached him and punched him on the side of his face, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The victim stumbled backward, hit a wall and fell to the ground, Lightfoot said. He declined medical treatment.

Police found Vega nearby and arrested him. He was charged Tuesday with one misdemeanor count of battery.

He's being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
