June 11--DETROIT -- The Chicago Cubs drafted 18 pitchers among their 40 selections in the three-day amateur draft that concluded Wednesday.
Among the pitchers drafted was 6-foot-7, 215-pound Fitz Stadler of Glenbrook South High School in the 32nd round. Stadler, 18, signed a letter of intent to Arizona State.
Stadler was one of 11 right-handed pitchers selected by the Cubs, who drafted seven left-handers (including 13th round pick Kyle Twomey of USC), four catchers, eight outfielders and 10 infielders.
