BRIEF: Girl Scout cookies arrive - let the selling begin

Jan. 24--More than 840,000 boxes of Samoas, Thin Mints and other ever-so-delectable Girl Scout cookies were unloaded Saturday from truck beds at the OC Fair Event Centerin Costa Mesa.

The cookie cargo went to about 1,200 Orange County Girl Scout volunteers who were collecting the boxes for troops to start selling in neighborhoods and outside stores.

Girl Scouts of Orange County plans to start selling cookies door to door Sunday and at grocery stores and retail outlets Feb. 12. The cookie program ends March 6.

More than 15,000 Orange County Girl Scouts sold almost 2 1/2 million packages of cookies last year, according to a news release. Funds earned from the cookie program are dedicated to troop activities, travel experiences and other projects.
