BRIEF: Girl hurt in northwest Indiana shooting

Dec. 01--A 17-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting late Monday evening in a Gary home, police said.

The girl was visiting a friend in the 5800 block of Kennedy Terrace when shot in the leg around 10 p.m., according to a release from the Gary Police Department.

Police said the girl does not live in the apartment where the shooting took place.

The girl was taken to an area hospital and her injury was non-life-threatening, police said.

As of late Monday evening, no one was in custody as a result of the incident and there were no identified suspects.
