5 injured, including 7-year-old girl, in city shootings

March 29--A 7-year-old girl who was in the front room of her South Side home was grazed in the head by gunfire from outside, according to authorities.

The shooting happened about 4:50 p.m. Monday in the 7600 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood, police said.

She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Police said she was in good condition with a graze wound to her head.

The girl was not the intended target, police said.

At least four other people have been shot in Chicago since Monday evening.

At 4:49 a.m. Tuesday, a 27-year-old man walked in to Roseland Community Hospital with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. He told investigators he was shot in the 11500 block of South Michigan Avenue. He was transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was listed in good condition.

At 2:15 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Albany Park while looking for a parking spot in the 3100 block of West Carmen Avenue. Someone in a silver vehicle fired shots into his car, and he was hit in the leg and went to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. His condition was stabilized. He has no known gang affiliation, according to police.

At 7:50 p.m. Monday, a 22-year-old man was in a vehicle in the 11000 block of South Union Avenue when someone fired shots and he was hit in the shoulder. He went to Little Company of Mary Hospital and his condition was stabilized.

At 7:25 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the 600 block of North Homan Avenue. He was shot in the left buttocks and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. He told police he heard shots and felt pain. No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.
