BRIEF: Girl, 17, went missing in West Ridge neighborhood

April 24--A 17-year-old girl went missing Saturday afternoon on the North Side in the city's West Ridge neighborhood, police said.

Rania Shamoun was last seen about 4:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of West Rosemont Avenue. Police said she has been hospitalized in the past for emotional issues, and she may be in the company of Hasib Muhamed, a 24-year-old man. Muhamed is known to frequent the area near Albion and California avenues.

Shamoun was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and black gym shoes, police said.

She is described as having a light-olive complexion, long blond hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds, police said.
