BRIEF: Girl, 14, critically injured after being hit by SUV on West Side

Dec. 14--A 14-year-old girl was in critical condition after being struck by a sport-utility vehicle in the South Austin neighborhood Saturday afternoon, police said.

The girl appeared to be tying her shoe laces in a parking lot in the 4800 block of West Jackson Boulevard when she was hit by a 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer accident around 3:55 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The girl was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was listed in critical condition, Greer said.

Carlos Anderson, 45, of the 900 block of Cedar Avenue in Elgin, was issued a traffic citation for pedestrian and roadway due care, Greer said.
