Jan. 29--One New York teen definitely will be dressed for success at her prom this year.
Chicago actress Gina Rodriguez said Thursday she will let Buffalo student Jessica Casanova wear the strapless Badgley Mischka gown she wore to the Golden Globes last year when she won the award for best comedic actress in a TV series.
"Being privileged to wear @HereIsGina dress to prom, and it's like a dream come true," Casanova tweeted.
The conversation unfolded Thursday on Twitter. Casanova tweeted Rodriguez, 31, that she would love to wear the off-the-shoulder Zac Posen gown Rodriguez wore to the Golden Globes this month. Rodriguez was nominated again for her role on "Jane the Virgin" but lost to Rachel Bloom.
Rodriguez, who grew up in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side and attended St. Ignatius College Prep in the University Village area, responded that she doesn't own that dress but owns her gown from last year's Golden Globes and "maybe we can make this happen." She later tweeted that she was reaching out to Casanova to talk about next steps.
"Jane the Virgin" airs 8 p.m. Mondays on The CW.
