Dec. 03--Gibsons Restaurant Group has leased a multi-level space in the under-construction River Point Building (444 W. Lake St.), planning to open a restaurant in mid-2017.
The building, facing east where the north and south branches of the Chicago River split, will have one-of-a-kind views of the Chicago River and flanking cityscape. The restaurant will include an outdoor patio as well.
The concept of the restaurant is "still in the formulation stage," as they say in the biz, but it's a good bet that whatever materializes will not be another Gibsons steakhouse (not that there's anything wrong with that).
