BRIEF: George Farmer signs with Seahawks, will convert to defensive back

Aug. 22--Former USC receiver George Farmer has signed a free-agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks, who will work to convert him into a defensive back, his agent, Jerome Stanley, said Saturday.

Farmer had signed a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys after the draft, but he was cut last week.

Farmer had a season of eligibility remaining at USC but opted to declare for the NFL draft.

Last season, after coming back from knee surgery that sidelined him in 2013, Farmer caught 25 passes, four for touchdowns.

He finished his career with 30 receptions and four touchdowns.

Farmer, 6-feet-1 and 220 pounds, played defensive back at Gardena Serra High.
