BRIEF: Garden Grove police officer injured after suspected drunk driver hits patrol car

Aug. 23--A Garden Grove police officer was injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into his patrol car early Sunday, police said.

The officer was driving north on Knott Street about 3:40 a.m. when motorist Alexander Berlimo, who was driving south, crossed the street into opposing traffic near Stanford Avenue, according to police.

Berlimo, 21, does not have a valid driver's license, according authorities said. He was treated and released from UCI Medical Center and then arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

The officer suffered injuries to his left hand and face and was also treated and released, authorities said. He has not been identified.
