BRIEF: Gang studio selected for NYC museum design expansion

Dec. 11--Chicago architect Jeanne Gang and her firm, Studio Gang Architects, have been selected to design a major expansion of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

The six-story, $325 million addition, which has yet to be designed and which requires approval from city agencies, is to contain exhibition space as well as labs and theaters. The museum's existing complex is located on the western edge of Central Park, between 77th and 81st Steets.

Gang's projects include Chicago's Aqua Tower. She is currently planning the landscape for the controversial, proposed Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago, a design which has yet to be unveiled.
