BRIEF: Game of Thrones creator to be honored during Northwestern football game

Nov. 03--Halftime at Saturday's Northwestern-Penn State football game will feature the appearance of best-selling author George R.R. Martin at Ryan Field.

Martin is a 1970 Northwestern alum, whose Game of Thrones series was adapted by HBO. He will receive the Medill Hall of Achievement alumni award on Wednesday before being recognized on the field Saturday.

A special halftime show by the Northwestern marching band will include selections played from Game of Thrones.

More than 60 million copies of Martin's books are in print. The television series has won several Emmy Awards.
