BRIEF: Freshman Toa Lobendahn could play left tackle against Washington State

Oct. 28--USC freshman Toa Lobendahn, who has started every game at left guard, worked with the first team offense at left tackle Tuesday as the Trojans attempt to replace injured Chad Wheeler.

Wheeler suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the first quarter of Saturday's 24-21 defeat by Utah. He will be sidelined the rest of the season.

Senior Aundrey Walker played in place of Wheeler against Utah and appeared on track to start Saturday at Washington State.

But Lobendahn took nearly every first-team rep Tuesday.

Lobendahn played tackle in high school. He said he would spend the week refreshing his technique.

"It's just different from being inside at guard," he said. "There's more to look at, more to see and more to pick up on, so I've just got to get my nose in the books today and tomorrow so I can be better and get into rhythm with it."
