BRIEF: Fresh from the farm, Kris Bryant gets Chicago welcome

April 19--Kris Bryant finally made his long-awaited Cubs debut Friday at Wrigley Field. What was it like for him down on the farm, putting in the required time at Triple-A Iowa to net the Cubs an extra year of contract control? And what was the wait like for success-starved Cubs fans?

In a newly released video from Red Bull, Bryant is shown biding his time on an actual farm, strolling amid chickens, trying to milk a cow and belting baseballs into cornfields. Meanwhile, Cubs fans and Chicago celebrities debate the impact Bryant will have on helping the team ultimately end the infamous "Curse of the Billy Goat."

"Man, I don't believe in the curse of the goat," says Joakim Noah, the Bulls' 6-foot-11 center, who later adds, "I don't care that Kris is Chicago's new favorite guy. He's only 6-5. He's still a miniature person."

Former Cubs third baseman Ron Cey and the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan also make cameo appearances, and at the end (after word comes down that Bryant at last is bound for the big leagues), Mike Ditka declares, "They called you up. Now's your time; the wait is over."
