BRIEF: Freight train hits vehicle near Northbrook; Metra service affected

Jan. 13--Metra trains were delayed Tuesday evening after a freight train hit a vehicle near Northbrook, officials said.

Milwaukee District North Line trains were stopped about 6:50 p.m. after a train hit a vehicle near Lake-Cook Road, according to Metra's website. Outbound train service was restored about 7:25 p.m., when the accident was at least partly cleared from the tracks.

No information on whether someone was injured in the crash was immediately available.
