BRIEF: 'Freeze!', part of puppet festival, cancelled

Jan. 13--An opening act of the inaugural Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival, "Freeze!," has been cancelled two days before it was set to begin performances at Chicago Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier, it was said Monday. "Freeze!" was scheduled to play Jan. 14-25.

A spokeswoman for the venue could not give a specific reason for the cancellation, saying only that "out of respect for the artist's privacy, we have no other information."

The creator and performer, Nick Steur, is based in the Netherlands.

Patrons who purchased tickets to "Freeze!" will be contacted by the box office, and their tickets will be fully refunded.
