BRIEF: Free pizza offered at Wicker Park eatery after stolen bike returned

Nov. 15--Hungry bikers scored slices of free pizza at a Wicker Park eatery in celebration of the restaurant's cook being reunited with his custom-made bike, which was stolen by a group dubbed the "Stroller Gang," according to staffers.

"It's because we're so happy that our cook's bike was found," said Craft Pizza employee Tavia Hanrahan.

After swiping money from the tip jar, the group spotted the bike behind the building. One of the boys scaled a locked fence to steal it. Both thefts were caught on security camera and posted on YouTube.

The bike was sold to someone who later saw the footage and turned it in to police, according to 14th District police.

One free pizza slice was offered to anyone on a bike until 2 p.m. Saturday at the restaurant at 1252 N. Damen Ave.

Johnson was "cutting some peperoncini," she said Saturday, laughing, and was not immediately available to comment.

No one is in custody, according to police.
