April 25--Frank Sinatra's onetime penthouse on New York City's Upper East Side has sold for $4.93 million.
The 3,200-square-foot co-op in the Edgewater building was the site of celebrity-attended parties during his decade-long tenure starting in the early 1960s.
Today the three levels of space have been updated to include a glass-stepped staircase, wood inlay floors and a stone-clad fireplace in the living room. Bar seating in the open-plan kitchen is adjacent to the dining area.
There are views of the East River from the 18-foot floor-to-ceiling windows on the main level, the staircase and the master loft bedroom, which has an en suite bathroom and office. The master suite lounge opens to terrace space.
The unit has three other bedrooms.
Legendary crooner and actor Sinatra, who died in 1998 at 92, owned the pad while he was married to actress Mia Farrow.
The buyer was architect Marvin Mitchell. The seller, insurance executive Penny Hart, did the renovations and had once listed the property for as much as $7.7 million.
Suzanne Miller, Senada Fici and Max Davis of Empire State Properties were the listing agents.
