BRIEF: Four-star QB Avery Davis picks Notre Dame

March 20--Notre Dame's current quarterback situation is as uneasy as 1-2-3 with DeShone Kizer, Malik Zaire and, according to coach Brian Kelly, Brandon Wimbush fighting to the right to start.

That Irish added another name to that mix Saturday when four-star quarterback Avery Davis announced via Twitter he had orally committed to the program.

Davis, a 6-foot, 190-pound junior from Cedar Hill High School in Texas, won't be ready to join the Irish until the 2017 season, though.

Davis chose Notre Dame over Iowa State, Oregon State, Purdue and Texas Tech, among others.

Davis threw for 1,966 yards and 22 touchdowns against four interceptions and ran for 934 and 13 more scores.

He is the 213th best player in the country, and seventh among dual-threat quarterbacks, according to 247sports.com's composite rankings.
