BRIEF: Four charged after Lawndale neighborhood standoff

Aug. 10--Four teens were charged after a four-hour standoff in the city's Lawndale neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

Malik Earkins, 19, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, criminal trespass and criminal damage to property.

Three others were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and criminal damage to property: 19-year-old Marlon Jones and two juveniles, aged 15 and 16.

Two officers saw an armed man entering the building about 12:40 p.m., police said. The four were taken into custody about 4:50 p.m.

A neighboring building was evacuated as a precaution, police said.
