BRIEF: Forsooth, Marcia! 'The Bardy Bunch' Shakespeare spoof comes to Chicago

May 13--"The Bardy Bunch," an Off-Broadway mash-up parody that imagines the Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch as Shakespearean feuding families in their own war of the sitcom roses, is headed to Chicago this fall.

Opening Sept. 26 at the Mercury Theatre, "The Bardy Bunch" is penned by Stephen Garvey and combines the history plays of William Shakespeare with the beloved characters and songs from those 1970s sitcoms, including "I Think I Love You" and "I Woke Up in Love This Morning."

This Equity-affiliated, for-profit, made-for-Chicago show will be directed by Jay Stern, as was the case in New York, where "The Bardy Branch" had an Off-Broadway run in 2014, after first coming to prominence during the 2011 New York International Fringe Festival. It's a relatively big show, featuring 18 roles, which are to be cast in Chicago.

The show is expected to play the Mercury, located at 3745 N. Southport Ave. in the heart of the Southport retail and entertainment corridor, through at least Thanksgiving. Tickets are on sale at TheBardyBunch.com.
