BRIEF: Former Walgreen CFO signs severance agreement

Dec. 22--Court documents show that Walgreen's former CFO has signed a final severance agreement, bringing into question whether he will proceed with a defamation lawsuit against the company.

When reached last week, ex-CFO Wade Miquelon's lawyer David Bernick said he could not comment on how the severance agreement would affect the case. Miquelon is eligible for a $3.2 million severance package and $1.2 million bonus.

A Walgreen spokesman said so far Miquelon has not dropped the suit, but that continuing with the suit would affect his ability to collect the severance. The next court date is planned for Jan. 29.
