BRIEF: Former USC Coach Lane Kiffin a finalist for Broyles Award

Dec. 01--Former USC Coach Lane Kiffin was announced as one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, presented annually to college football's top assistant coach.

Kiffin is Alabama's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Kiffin was USC's head coach for three-plus seasons. He was fired after the fifth game of the 2013 season.

Alabama is 11-1 and in contention for a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Alabama plays Missouri in the Southeastern Conference championship game on Saturday in Atlanta.

Other finalists for the Broyles Award are Missouri defensive coordinator Dave Steckel, Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman, Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost and Texas Christian offensive coordinator Doug Meacham.
