Oct. 15--Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman is being held without bail under investigation of vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run.
According to the Seattle Times, a King County Jail report states that the former UCLA running back drove his Dodge pickup into a Honda Civic around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Coleman, apparently unhurt, is said to have walked away after the incident. The other driver was injured, possibly with a broken collarbone, a law enforcement source told the Seattle Times.
The fourth-year NFL player was tracked down nearby and arrested without incident.
Coleman's agents said in a statement, "It seems Derrick may have fallen asleep while driving home from a Seahawks' facility."
The Seahawks announced Thursday morning they have suspended Coleman indefinitely, pending further information.
Coleman has started two games for the Seahawks this season and is a key player on special teams. He rushed for 1,780 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Bruins from 2008 to 2011 and was named second-team All Pac-10 on special teams.
His book, "No Excuses: Growing Up Deaf and Achieving My Super Bowl Dreams,'' was published earlier this year.
