Dec. 18--A Park Ridge man was arrested this week after police found him possessing more than 1,000 images of child pronography.
Albert Galus was charged with 9 counts of possession of child pornography and 16 counts of aggravated possession of child pornography, which stem from possessing pictures or videos of children under the age of 13, according to the statement.
Authorities began investigating Galus in December 2011 after he took his computer in for repair. A technician discovered a video of child pornography and contacted the FBI, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
A warrant executed on December 21, 2011 at Galus' home in the 1000 block of Petersen in Park Ridge turned up two assault rifles, a handgun and a large amount of ammunition, officials said. Galus was arrested after police said he did not possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification card.
Galus, a former tutor for middle school and high school students, was arrested again earlier this week. Authorities arrested him at his home on Tuesday, according to a statement.
A Cook County judge ordered him held on $100,000 bond Wednesday.
Galus was a former chairman of the Taste of Park Ridge.
