BRIEF: Former Highland Park H.S. principal charged with DUI

Dec. 01--Former Highland Park High School Principal Bradley Swanson was charged with driving under the influence early Thanksgiving morning after Highland Park police stopped him near his residence.

The stop came at about 2 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, on the 1200 block of North Avenue in Highland Park. Swanson, 45, also was charged with improper lane usage.

Swanson, now assistant superintendent of human resources in Glenbrook High School District 225, was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 2.

"I take full responsibility for my terribly bad decision and actions," Swanson said Monday. "I fully accept any and all associated consequences. I am also deeply sorry for the disappointment and embarrassment that I have caused my family, friends and community.

"I have learned a very hard lesson and can only hope that others may learn as well from my significant mistake."
