BRIEF: Former Clippers forward Glen Davis has ankle surgery

Sept. 03--Free-agent forward Glen Davis, who spent the last two seasons with the Clippers, had surgery Wednesday on his left ankle that will sideline him two to three months, said an NBA official not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Davis, who was having the surgery in North Carolina, had his ligaments repaired in the ankle and had a cyst and bone spurs removed, the official said.

Davis will be in a non-weight-bearing splint for a couple of weeks, then a walking cast and a boot a few weeks after that.

Davis was injured in Game 6 of the Clippers' first-round playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs. He came back to play in Game 7 after having a cortisone shot in the ankle.

The official said several teams were interest in signing Davis, including the Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. The official also said Davis plans on being back in the NBA before the end of the 2015-16 season, and that he'll be ready to play in December.
