BRIEF: Former 49er Justin Smith sells his park-like house in San Jose for $2.5 million

Feb. 06--Retired professional football player Justin Smith, who spent seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, has sold his home in San Jose for $2.5 million.

Built in 1999, the Mediterranean-style estate sits on close to four park-like acres and is accessed by a private drive. A gazebo, a fenced sports court, a swimming pool and spa, fountains and lawns make up the grounds.

Within the 4,320 square feet of interiors is a two-story entry with a sweeping staircase, formal living and dining rooms, a library/office and a center-island kitchen. There are four fireplaces.

The master suite has a soaking tub, a walk-in closet and a balcony overlooking the grounds. In all there are four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

Smith bought the house eight years ago for $2.875 million, records show.

Rick Alva of Soto Real Estate Investments were the listing agents. Barbara Ngo of EZ Realty Financial repped the buyer.

The 36-year-old defensive lineman made five Pro Bowls in 14 seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and 49ers. He retired with 87 sacks and 613 tackles in 221 games.

He worked as an assistant strength coach at Missouri, his alma mater, this past year.
