April 09--Some areas north of the city and the Rogers Park neighborhood saw an inch of snow overnight, but a gradual warm-up including rain is predicted for Sunday and later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
The inch of snow fell closer to Lake Michigan in the Rogers Park neighborhood, said NWS meteorologist Matt Friedlein. O'Hare International Airport had seven-tenths of an inch while some areas of northern Cook and Lake counties had between a half an inch and one inch, Friedlein said.
No more snow is expected, and it will be sunny, with winds off the lake Saturday. Temperatures will remain "well below normal'' and only about in the mid-30s in the city and closer to 40 in the outlying areas.
Late Saturday and overnight there may be a mix of rain and snow, but Sunday will warm up to the lower 50s with clouds and rain, Friedlein said.
"We can't seem to get warm and sunny together to stay at least right now," Friedlein said.
Next week's temperatures should "moderate," and become closer to normal for this time of year.
