Nov. 11--The eyes have it.
Mike Singletary was well known to Bears fans for his intense gaze, but several NFL players talk about what it felt like to be on the business end of the Hall of Fame middle linebacker's glare during "Mike Singletary: A Football Life," which premieres Thursday night at approximately 11 p.m. on NFL Network. It will air again on Friday at 8.
"Sometimes I'd get up to the line of scrimmage and I'd look at Mike," former Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann says in the documentary. "You saw the fire in his eyes and the passion in his eyes."
To hear Singletary tell it, he started his 12-season career with that passion.
"Now this is maybe my third week in camp my rookie year," Singletary says. "So I'm in the huddle and I go, 'Hey! This is the huddle! Close your mouth. Let's go!' Everybody got quiet. And I went ahead as though hey, 'Let's go.' To me it was like, what's the problem?"
Emmy-nominated actor Josh Charles, best known as Will Gardner on "The Good Wife," narrates the episode.
