BRIEF: Football | Hinsdale Central alumnus Brian Allen named freshman All-American

Jan. 16--Michigan State offensive lineman Brian Allen was selected to the Football Writers Association of American All-American team.

SpartanDigest.com reported at that both Allen and Spartans tackle Malik McDowell were selected.

The pair was joined by Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett, Michigan offensive lineman Mason Cole, Rutgers defensive lineman Kemoko Turay and Nebraska punt returner De'Mornay Pierson-El as the six Big Ten players honored, the website said.
