May 17--Two flight attendants were injured when a Southwest Airlines plane from Boston to Midway Airport hit severe turbulence Monday night, according to a statement from the airline.
The pilot of Southwest Airlines Flight 147 circled back to Boston shortly after takeoff when the flight hit turbulence and he was told the attendants had been injured. The flight attendants were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries, the airline said.
Two passengers suffered minor injuries but were not taken to hospitals, according to Massport, the Massachusetts transportation authority.
Passengers were diverted to another plane with a new flight crew, and their flight arrived at Midway about four and a half hours behind schedule, according to Southwest Airlines.
