April 11--First Folio Theatre in Oak Brook announced its 2016-17 season on Monday.
The Chicago premiere of "Dr. Seward's Dracula" (Oct. 5-Nov.6) begins the season in the fall. Alison C. Vesely will direct Joseph Zettelmaier's adaptation about the aftermath of the Transylvanian bloodsucker's death.
Next up is a new play adapted by David Rice from Rafael Sabatini's adventure novel "Captain Blood" (Jan. 25-Feb. 26). The pirate tale set on a Caribbean island will be directed by Vesely.
"Silent Sky" (March 29-April 30) follows, closing out the indoor season. The Chicago premiere about Harvard's "computer ladies" who paved the way for the work of Dr. Edwin Hubble is written by Lauren Gunderson, with direction by Vesely.
First Folio's Shakespeare Under the Stars summer programming includes Shakespeare's comedy "As You Like It" (July 12-Aug. 20).
