BRIEF: Firefighter injured in Far South Side blaze

Dec. 20--A firefighter was injured while battling a blaze in the Cottage Grove Heights neighborhood on the Far South Side early Saturday, authorities said.

The fire started sometime after midnight in a two-and-a-half-story building in the 9800 block of South Dobson Avenue, said Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Frank Velez.

The firefighter appeared to have hurt his ankle and was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for treatment, Velez said.

No other injuries were reported. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, Velez said.
