BRIEF: Fire officials investigate 3 garage fires in Mount Greenwood

March 31--Chicago Fire Department officials are investigating a fire that destroyed three garages Wednesday morning on the same block on the Far Southwest Side.

Firefighters were called to the 10500 block of South Sawyer Avenue in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, said Chief Juan Hernandez, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

When firefighters arrived at 10:53 a.m., they found the three garages, which were next to each other, fully engulfed in flames, said Hernandez. They managed to put out the fires.

The fire spread from one garage to another, officials later said. No injuries were reported.

Earlier information that the fire was considered suspicious was inaccurate.
